ABOUT
My name is Brad Carr. I currently serve as a minister, leader, author, and communicator, having had the privilege of being a pastor for most of my adult life (over 30 years).

That entire journey has been made with my amazing wife Rochelle, whom I married in 1994. Together we have three adult sons - Harrison, Logan and Jaden - as well as a new daughter-in-law Amy (married to Harrison), and a gorgeous border collie named Arlo. We make our home in the Botany area in the eastern part of Auckland in New Zealand.

Rochelle and I had the privilege of leading the team that planted Summit Church in East Auckland in 2004 (formerly BotanyLife Community Church, and now part of Gracecity Church as their East Auckland campus). However, in 2019 I was diagnosed with serious burnout and I ended up stepping out of the senior leadership role.

I now serve as part of the preaching team at Gracecity Church, speaking regularly at our different congregations across Auckland. I also lead an "Emerging Preachers" program at Gracecity to develop the next generation of biblical communicators. I also preach regularly in a number of other churches in New Zealand, while running Bible and Preaching Seminars for their congregations and preaching teams respectively. I have had the privilege of speaking internationally in places as diverse as Kenya, Australia, Nepal, Uganda, and the USA.

My other key ministry role is serving as the International Director for Barnabas School of Leadership (BSL), an organisation devoted to training and equipping church leaders in under-resourced countries in the Majority World. Currently only 5% of church leaders receive any biblical training, and BSL is playing a small role in meeting this significant global need. At the heart of BSL's program is a commitment to passing on Jesus' teaching and example of humble servant-leadership. Currently, BSL is serving the Lord in eight countries across Asia and Africa with expressions of interest from many others.

I am a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), where Rochelle and I studied as a newly married couple, and I earned a Master of Theology degree. I also had the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant in preaching in the Pastoral Ministries Department in my final semester.
In our summer holidays, we love camping at Waipu Cove in northern New Zealand, which is featured in the photos on this website. In my spare time, I enjoy walking Arlo, consuming a great coffee, and watching a good movie.
I also support a large number of sports teams (especially the All Blacks, Warriors and Blues).
